Vacation Time: Ireland

"The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page."
~ St. Augustine

Sherri & I have decided that were long over due for a vacation. We were debating between Ireland, Scotland or Iceland.

After checking airfares for all 3 locals, Ireland had the best rates - which was great since we were leaning towards Ireland anyways.

Any advice, input or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Here's the details and the plans we have so far:
  • Length of stay: 8 days
  • Arriving: Dublin 21st of Sept.
  • Departing: Shannon 29th of Sept.
  • Travel Plans: We are planning on staying in Dublin for 2-3 days and making day trips to some of the closer towns. The next 5-6 days we plan on traveling around the coastal line all the way around to Shannon. We might even head a little further north to Galaway before we depart. Some of the places we plan on stopping at or visiting include: Kildare,Wiclow,Kilkenny, Wexford, Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Galway. We're not quite sure where to visit in the South West.
  • Transportation: Our plan is to use local transportation -- bus, train & taxi's
  • Accommodations: We plan to mainly stay in B&B's.
  • Sites: We both enjoy historical buildings, museums, art galleries etc....etc.
  • Other: We would like to do quite a bit of light hiking.
We're both very excited to get away. Sherri is a seasoned traveler, but hasn't had the opportunity to get away in the last few years. I on the other hand haven't been on a vacation since I was a teenager tagging along with my parents into the U.S.
