Too Fat To Fly
"You [messed] with the wrong sedentary processed-foods eater!" ~ Kevin Smith
O n the flight home from Ottawa Sherri filled me in on an interesting gossip tid bit.... Kevin Smith (writer/director of "Clerks", "Chasing Amy", "Dogma" & "Zack & Miri Make a Porno".... to name a few), was kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight because he was too big to sit comfortably in the seat.
The coinkydink is that Sherri and I were talking about how we couldn't believe that the airline industry hasn't started to charge people based on their weight..... I mean over a certain weight, as they're not likely to give a discount for skinny people. I knew it was only a matter of time before this type of issue hit the press, but I was surprised it happened to Kevin Smith, because lets face it he's not even that big by today's standards. I'm pretty sure I've outweighed him at one point or another.

Southwest said in a statement airline officials had called Smith to offer their "heartfelt apologies," but also stated his removal was for the "safety and comfort of all customers....Thankfully Kevin announced latter on Twitter "Don't worry: wall of the plane was opened & I was airlifted out while Richard Simmons supervised."...... I'm glad to know you made it home safe and sound Kevin
If a customer cannot comfortably lower the armrest and infringes on a portion of another seat, a customer seated adjacent would be very uncomfortable and a timely exit from the aircraft in the event of an emergency might be compromised if we allow a cramped, restricted seating arrangement,". ~ People Magazine
